MLB-Based National Remote Hitting Development
Major Hitting Mechanics Academy
Major Hitting Mechanics is a national remote hitting development platform built on professional instruction and Major League experience.
The system is rooted in the teachings of Merv Rettenmund — an 18-year MLB hitting coach who worked under Bruce Bochy, Bobby Cox, and Tony La Russa, and served as hitting coach to Tony Gwynn.
For more than a decade, I had the opportunity to study under Merv here in the San Diego area, learning firsthand how elite hitters are developed at the highest levels of baseball.
Major Hitting Mechanics brings those professional hitting principles to athletes anywhere in the country.
This is not trend-based instruction.
It is structured, fundamentals-driven hitting development built on methods used at the highest levels of the game.
Our mission is simple:
Develop disciplined, mechanically sound, confident hitters — anywhere in the country.
MLB Hitting Analysis & Player Development
Major Hitting Mechanics also serves as a baseball development media platform dedicated to studying elite hitters and breaking down the mechanics behind successful Major League swings.
Through ongoing analysis of professional hitters and the training principles used throughout professional baseball, the platform helps players and coaches better understand how great hitters actually move.
This combination of MLB swing analysis and structured player development shapes the Major Hitting Mechanics system.
What We Teach
Major Hitting Mechanics focuses on building a repeatable, efficient swing from the ground up.
Inside the program, athletes develop the core phases of the swing:
• Stance and posture
• Load and timing
• Visual discipline and pitch tracking
• Swing direction and barrel path
• Balance and controlled follow-through
The goal is not mechanical overload.
The goal is clarity, consistency, and a swing that holds up under pressure.
Every phase is taught within a structured system designed to create long-term repeatability.
Studying Elite Hitters
A core part of the Major Hitting Mechanics approach is studying elite hitters and the mechanics that allow them to perform consistently at the highest level.
By analyzing hitters such as:
-
Aaron Judge
-
Ronald Acuña Jr.
-
Freddie Freeman
players begin to recognize the same core swing principles appearing throughout the game.
This perspective allows athletes to move beyond trends and focus on the repeatable fundamentals shared by great hitters across generations.
